Low Back Pain

Low Back Pain Treatment Experts in Newington, CT

For many people, when they think of chiropractic, they think of treatment for low back pain. Though I don’t like that chiropractic is often thought of only a treatment for back pain, the truth is, if you have lower back pain, you NEED chiropractic care.

There are many things that can cause low back pain. These include spinal joints that get stuck or misaligned, muscle that go into spasm, lumbar discs can bulge or herniate, nerves get pinched, inflammation or swelling develops and when left uncorrected these things lead to PERMANENT arthritic changes.

With low back pain, people are often told they “pulled a muscle.“ It is impossible to just pull a muscle in the back because the muscles attach to the bones, the nerves branch out from between the bones and control the muscles, swelling or inflammation affects the muscles, cells, and pain sensing nerves. This is why anti-inflammatory medication and muscle relaxers don’t cure back pain. It is also why massage, physical therapy, or stretching is not a fix for lower back pain.

Chiropractic is the only healing art that finds and reduces all the components that cause low back pain. Gentle chiropractic adjustments restore proper position, alignment, and motion to the spinal joints. This allows the muscles to relax and most importantly relieves pressure on the spinal nerves. Normal muscle tone allows for better circulation which reduces inflammation.
Medications for low back pain can reduce pain but it is dangerous to think that less pain means a health lower back. Uncorrected back problems will lead to arthritic changes in the back even if there is no pain. Research by Dr. Tapio Videman showed that when spinal bones are stuck for as little as two weeks, PERMANENT degenerative changes begin to take place. These changes are irreversible. Think about what may happen when spinal bones are stuck for months or years.
